Step 1 — Know what you want the night to feel like

Skip trying to memorise strain names. Tell the crew what you want: chill on a balcony, social night out, deep sleep, big giggles, movie couch-lock. Any decent budtender will walk you through three or four strains that match. That's the shortcut.

Step 2 — Thai grown, Cali loose, or Cali packs

• Cali loose: imported Cali genetics, priced per gram or in half/quarters. The middle option — Cali quality without the branded packaging markup.
• Cali branded packs: the sealed jars and Mylar bags you've seen on Instagram. Premium price, top-shelf flavour and potency. Treat it like the whisky of the menu.

Step 3 — Know rough pricing
